I experienced a moment of  PURE HAPPINESS on Monday night that I really want to share……Monday September 24 was
Reese’s 6th birthday. The kids and I went down to my moms to celebrate with our family and a few close friends. Like
always the kids ran wild all over Mimi’s backyard. Usually during this time Maddy will do her BEST to try to keep
up with the other kids or decide to go inside and watch a little TV while the other kids play. Watching these
moments hurt my heart but of course I never let Maddy see my pain. But tonight I got to see a NEW BEGINNING in
Maddy’s world. She asked if we could get her NEW wheelchair out of Mimi’s garage. See Maddy is not able to use it
much right now since we have to keep it at Mimis due to my van not being equipped to travel with it or our house
open enough for it. So when we go down there she gets very excited to use it. So of course we got it out and Maddy
lit up all over her face. Before I knew it Maddy was chasing the other kids and laughing like I have never heard
her laugh!!! For the first time ALL of the kids were playing TOGETHER!! I took a step back and just watched with tears
in my eyes. My prayers for Maddy to feel the happiness and independence that I have been praying for were being
answered right before my eyes!! She was laughing and yelling like all of the other kids 🙂 Now with all of this being
said I also got to see a glimpse of what Mommy has to look forward to. I realized quickly you give Maddy a little
independence and the ” SASSY MADDY ” comes out real fast. Dont get me wrong I will gladly take it to see the smiles,
giggles, and excitement that I got to witness! THANK YOU GOD FOR ANSWERED PRAYERS!!!!

CHANGE…this one word comes with so many feelings in my life. CHANGE….is probably one of the hardest words for me
to understand and accept. CHANGE…brings a whole new meaning of fear for me.
One month ago we were having a ” YARD SALE “. I never realized when it began what it was going to include but what
it did include was the start of alot of CHANGES. I knew there was alot of CHANGE headed my way. What I did not
realize was the fear I had deep down in me to start these CHANGES. After the yard sale was over and having so many
people wanting to help me start the CHANGES and ways to get the CHANGES started I crawled into a hole of fear.
Starting to make CHANGES to my house meant I was accepting that my whole world was CHANGING before my eyes. That my
life that I had always envisioned was not the life in reality. Bulding a ramp I was having to face the future that
I really wasn’t ready to face deep down. Talking to people about making my house ” handicap accessible ” was so easy
until I was alone at night replaying those conversations in my head and truly feeling like it was somebody elses life
that was being talked about. I was so ” ready ” to make these CHANGES so I thought until the time came to start
I froze. I started to think to myself ” If we dont make these CHANGES maybe reality will CHANGE itself.” Well I have
quickly realized that is not the case. The reality of my Princess Maddy’s life is not going to CHANGE, the reality
of my home not being what Maddy needs nor my other kids is not going to CHANGE, the reality of me not being able to
do it alone is not going to CHANGE..So i knew it was time to start making CHANGES!!!!
The first CHANGE I decided on was giving Gavin a space in our home to call his own. One of my biggest goals was not
only making our home a better place for Maddy but also giving all 4 of the kids a sense of peace in our house. As
I sat down I realized that Gavin not only deserved a spot to call his own but needed that spot just as much. Being
the oldest of all 4 kids by 6 years is hard in itself but it also carries so much burden. Gavin never complained
about sharing a room with his brother actually Gavin never really complained about our house but I wanted to
give him a place he could escape and have PEACE. So my ” first CHANGE ” began. I decided to give Gavin the room
that was the girls. We moved all of the girls stuff out (wow there was alot of stuff ) turned the pink walls light
grey with one wall being a dark blue and moved Gav’s stuff in along with his new furniture since he was sharing
everything with Reese. Seeing Gavin’s face when he saw the transformation
for the first time I realized quickly CHANGE did not always have to come with fear. That sometimes CHANGE can
be a wonderful thing!!!! CHANGE didnt have to be an end to anything, it could be a NEW BEGINNING instead.
So with my first CHANGE under my belt I was pretty excited. I realized I didnt need to rush all of my CHANGES but
rather enjoy each one as it was happening. The first night Gavin went to bed in his ” new room’ I went in there and
sat with him and had a feeling of PEACE in me. I realized as I sat there that maybe everything was going to be all
right. So I was ready for the next CHANGE in my life. The next one wasnt really hard to figure out. I got the call
that Maddys new chair was in so I knew right then the next CHANGE had to be adding a ramp to our house. As soon as
I realized what the next change was God laid everything right before me!! ( HE IS SUCH AN AMAZING GOD ). We got the
materials purchsed, THANK YOU to Mr Billy Hensley, and the project was started, THANK YOU to Davis and Bill Trolinger.
As I was sitting outside watching the CHANGE happening I was overcome with a feeling of PEACE once again knowing that
Maddy was going to be able to go in and out of our house with no problems. That the feeling of exhaustion looking at
stairs for her was gone. Watching your daughter struggle going up and down just 3 little stairs is a feeling I wish
upon noone. Now even when she has the energy to walk still she can go in and out with no stuggles!!! That is
definitely making CHANGE a new beginning!!!!! So as I write this I discover my new excitement for CHANGE. I realize
that as I was looking at CHANGE in a negative manner it was holding my kids and I back from achieving the PEACE that
we strive for. CHANGE IS A NEW BEGINNING!!!!
Thank you for all the thoughts and prayers for me and the kids. We feel them all of the time.

I am so sorry it has taken me so long to do an update. We have been crazy working on cleaning up after the ” AMAZING ” yard sale, starting renovations on our house, boys starting sports and of course the many appointments that keep us on our toes!!! I promise I am going to update on all that has been going on later tonight or tomorrow 🙂

But I wanted to share 2 AMAZING POEMS that have been sent to me in the last couple weeks. The first one was written by one of Maddy’s nurses Cyndi.

An Angel went to the throne and said “Lord, we need a room for Maddy’s bed”.
In compassion He saw a mother who prays,
silently struggling day to day.
“I think I know what I will do”
So He sent me and He sent you.

Plumbers, musicians, and artist too
Some people we just barely knew.
Some gave labor, their time, some art
But all touched this mother’s heart.

Because a mother said a prayer
God sent people to show they cared.
We all have gifts that we can do
God used me, He’ll use you.

Lord help me every passing day
To be a mother who seeks your face.
For compassion surrounds us and we learn of love
When Angels listen from up above.

The second one was written by a man that heard of Maddys story all the way in MA. It is amazing to me how when people read her story and see her face they are moved!! 🙂 These words are exactly what I want to say to her……I LOVE MY PRINCESS!!

I have this little angel. For She has no idea how much happiness she truly brings. She brightens up my days with her smiles and her laughs.
She helps me to remember all the blessings that I have. Her face, it is so perfect, she’s sweet and soft and pure. She gives the greatest hugs from morning until night. Every person that knows her sees this light within her soul I know that in this whole great world, she has a special role. She’s helpful and considerate to everyone she knows
This light in her shines brighter as my angel grows. When she sees someone is sad, it opens up her heart.
She wants to do all that she can; she wants to do her part.
She’ll squeeze away the sorrow and make me forget about her pain.
She shows me where the sun is when we’re hiding from the rain.
I know that God must love me, He showed me with His Grace
I knew just how completely when I saw my angel’s face.
And in that very moment when she came into my world,
I knew that she was so much more than just my baby girl. She would be my sunshine, with a sweetness that won’t end. And when she grows up one day she would be my closest friend. She would be the reason I would always try my best.
I wish you Maddy & your family nothing but the best.

Helloooo!  We are all still trying to recover from the last 3 weeks but especially last weekend!  We have no words to express how amazing the turnout was!  We definitely hit our goal for the weekend plus a little extra!  🙂  It’s a wonderful feeling knowing that some really important things are about to be taken care of for princess Maddy!  First off I want to thank everyone who donated items, bought items, donated their time, donated food and drinks and just showed up with a smile and a hug!!  A big thanks to Lisa who let us use her tables and clothing racks!  A big thanks to Mike for letting us use 100’s of storage bins! A big thanks to Karen for donating the POD.  A big thanks to Kim for taking all the beautiful pictures you see below and more!  A big thanks to Karen and Walt for giving Maddy a brand new bathlift.  A big thanks to The Sam Hunter Band and Guy Gilchrist for awesome entertainment!!  And a big thanks to everyone who prayed for us and thought about us!

One thing we have realized after everything settling down over the last couple of days is that we had a lot of people offer their time and talent to Hillary and the kids!  We unfortunately didn’t keep great record of that.  So if you by any chance stopped by this past weekend and offered to help the Christisons out in any way…could you please send us an email and let us know what it is you wanted to bless them with?

You guys are awesome and we could have never done any of this without you all but especially God!  We are forever grateful that we serve a God that loves and cares about ALL our needs!  Our feeble minds had no idea what He had in store for us this past weekend!  It is an amazing feeling when you see your prayers being answered right in front of your eyes!  Again thanks so much for helping us spread the word about Maddy’s story!  We will have more information on some more ways you can help sweet Maddy and her family in the next few days!  Keep checking in!  Here are some pics from our fun weekend!  We hope you enjoy them!

If you wanna look awesome and join Team Maddy then check out this                                     website and buy a “Miracles For Maddy” shirt!  A large portion of the                                         proceeds will go to support Maddy and her family!

One of the many exciting things that happened today was Fox 17 news showing up in our driveway totally unexpected!  They interviewed me (Heather) and Hillary.  We have no idea what to expect but we are excited none the less!  It will be on tonight at 9 pm!  I will try to update tomorrow night or Monday about many of the amazing things people have done over the last 2 days!  All I know is God is good and He had a much bigger plan in all of this!  My little mind could have never imagined what He has done!  I am once again in awe of the God we serve!

And please come by and say hello to us tomorrow if you haven’t already…or even if you have!

Heather (Team Maddy)

We have some EXCITING news!!  Yesterday Hillary received a call from Cynthia Williams from Channel 4 news!  She heard about Maddy, her story and the yard sale.  She wanted to come over and interview Hillary and Madelyn!

Thank you Cynthia Williams for your sweet spirit and your loving heart.  Thank you for being a strong woman who isn’t ashamed of your relationship with Jesus Christ.  You were such an encouragement to us today.

We are in awe of what God is doing for Maddy and her family!  We are in awe of the response from people all over the world.  We have no words to express how thankful we are that YOU have helped us spread Maddy’s story!  There are only 2 1/2 days left until the BIG yard sale begins.  We hope that we will see you all this weekend….and you will be able to meet sweet precious Maddy, her brothers, sister and her beautiful momma.

Love to you all!

Team Maddy  (Heather)

Good morning!

We are very happy to let you all know that someone got in touch with us yesterday and they are taking care of the plumber!  That being said I thought I would throw this out there today…Hillary has a double oven and not one but both of them are broken!  We are assuming it may be the heating elements.  If there is anyone who thinks they could help with this we would be forever grateful!

Please email us at

On another note……

The response to the yard sale donations have been overwhelming to say the least!  When Telisha and I sat down and decided to do a benefit yard sale we thought we had high expectations BUT y’all have blown our minds!!  We have already been given so much that we had to rent a POD!  We also have used 2 garages to store some stuff in!  We are working day and night trying to sort and organize everything that gets dropped off!  I will try to post some pictures later today!  I hope you will also help us spread the word to your friends and family!  We are going to need lots of shoppers!!  WE ARE STILL ACCEPTING DONATIONS!  We will be accepting them up until Thursday August 23rd!  So if you haven’t dropped anything off yet you still have time! We just want to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts!  We could not be more pleased with the love and support that YOU have shown Maddy and her family through this event!    Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

Team Maddy (Heather)

Hey guys!  We have a huge favor to ask!  About an hour ago Hillary walked into her laundry room and noticed standing water.  This isn’t the first time this has happened and she is pretty sure it has something to do with the sump pump.   We need a plumber!  If you are one or know one and you would like to help, please email us at
